POTD: Queen’s Flower ๐Ÿ’–๐Ÿ‘‘

on

The Queen’s flower also called the Queen’s Crape Myrtle also has another name, Pride of India. Till date I was able to get only a distant view of this flower, the colourful inflorescence stands upright like a bright crown on top of the branches. The flowers were violet mixed with lilac colour ๐Ÿ‘‰ Tree tales: An April bouquet from Bangalore๐Ÿ’๐ŸŒณ(April series Part ๐ŸŸ of ๐Ÿ ) There is also another shade of pink and lilac for this flower.

And now I encountered the Queen’s Flower again and in close quarters; looking into the open flower, it is a magnificent sight๐Ÿ’–. The buds were just starting to bloom, a couple at a time. The combination of the yellow and the violet lilac in the flower is beautiful. There are six crinkled coloured petals, fanning out exposing the yellow anthers on the numerous thread like stamens. The colours and the combination in play is stunning!

Beauty is fleeting !? In a few days, the colourful petals start turning white๐Ÿ‘‡.

Once you get to know a tree or flower, they appear more often and your brain starts picking them out from the thick groves; frequency illusion!

Till next post, take care !!
