POTD: Violet vines πŸ’œ

They are hanging over our boundary wall from the neighbour’s; thrilled to see it. The colour and the clusters look so very pretty. Violet comes to mind; on closer inspection, there is also a hint of purple.

Lilac vines

They are called Petrea, a creeper named after Robert James Petre, a renowned British botanist. The petals of the flower are purple colour and small, but more prominent are it’s calyx or sepals (usually green in colour in normal flowers, the smaller outer whorl of a flower), here it is violet in colour and longer; five sepals, slender and star shaped. Delicate and pretty πŸ’œ

Till next post, take care !!
