We were a small group, led by Karthik from Trivik. He had one clear instruction, “Keep an eye on your shoes.” he said. Why !? Leeches 🪱 !!

We always make it a point to do the Nature Walk offered by most resorts and at Trivik in Chikmagalur too we were happy to join in. While most nature walks start at dawn, at Trivik it was scheduled at 11:00 am; we could wake up late, have a scrumptious breakfast and then go for the walk 😀
It was bright sunny day, but we carried umbrellas just in case ! Karthik asked us to ask the questions and so began the volley of “What is this…!?” questions; starting with the gorgeous pink Angel’s Trumpets 🌸

There were coffee plants bearing coffee beans on the right side of the trail, growing amidst the silver oaks and to the left was forest. “It’s mostly Arabica coffee that’s grown here…”

Another flower pointed out by Karthik were the wispy White Dandelions 💮

A millipede was crossing the road. On being picked up by Karthik, it coiled to a spherical shape and stayed still. Karthik left it on back on the ground and yet it decided to remain in it’s safe mode for the rest of the day !

The rain washed fresh greenery and the clean mountain air was refreshing. The blue skies, the white clouds, cool weather, the majestic trees were picture perfect.

On the way Karthik removed a leech that got stuck on one of our shoes. They were wriggly, thin and black; we always seen pictures of fat leeches !

Another burst of colour in the scenery is this violet flower with purple streaks. What’s it called? I looked it up on the net, it’s called Blue dawn flower or Morning glory. The colour is spectacular !!

The trail was 5 km to and fro. It did not rain. We were just gaping at the spectacular mountain views and all the beautiful trees. It was a memorable time !!

Till next post, take care !!
