Inspired by Anita Nair’s book – the Alphabet Soup for Lovers ๐Good reads for the monsoon 2020 #1 ๐ฆ we held an edible alphabet game in our family WhatsApp group. Beginning from the first of the month till the twenty sixth, the participants had to post a picture of a homemade dish, beginning with the day’s alphabet; first day, a dish with A, on the second, a dish with B and so on.
We were on a roll, every day saw new dishes. It was fun and entertaining. But then it dawned on me that we were fast approaching the letter Q and I need a dish. All I could think of was Quinoa and I had never cooked with Quinoa before. The show must go on and so I ordered a packet of Quinoa via the online grocery app. I cooked it following the instructions on the packet and decide to make a very basic and easy Quinoa salad๐

The cooked Quinoa tasted like cooked broken wheat and the salad turned out pretty colourful with avocado๐ฅ, cucumber ๐ฅ, finely chopped carrot ๐ฅ, chopped coriander leaves, tomatoes ๐ with drizzle of olive oil, lemon juice, salt and pepper. Voila, Q for Quinoa salad, my dish for the day.
My family was more adventurous, they didn’t find the letter Q a challenge at all and it’s not even Quinoa. Here’s the feast they put up๐

It was awesome, all the ladies rose to the challenge and the variety was incredible ! My aunt made the Queensbury Tart and Quail Egg curry. The rest are my cousin’s contributions – Quail roast, Quesadilla, Quiche and there was also the Queen of Pudding ๐.
Q for Queens ๐
Till next post, take care !!
