We checked out of Gateway Chikmagalur and reached Hampi by evening and while having dinner at the new hotel, we were surprised by a call from the Taj staff asking if we reached our home safely !? That was nice !! It must be a SOP (standard operating procedure) for them, but we felt wowed !! It was a thoughtful gesture.

Taj hospitality is always a class apart. We were in Chikmagalur for Christmas and considering the pandemic we chose Gateway Chikmagalur for our stay. The hotel is located on the side of NH 173 and not in the midst of coffee plantations or forest; but the place is surrounded by greenery !!

We spent two nights at Gateway Chikmagalur and each day after the room was cleaned, they left a small surprise gift for us. One day it was a plate of chocolates plus a bottle of wine and the next day it was a plum cake 🍰.

The food was glorious!! On the day before Christmas, we were not eating non-veg due to Advent and their veg spread was scrumptious. On Christmas day we had turkey with cranberry jus !! And one evening they had mutton biryani, was one of the tastiest biryani I have had so far😘.

It’s a pet friendly hotel and there were many canines with their families staying for the holidays. They staff had a list of places we could visit in Chikmagalur and also a plausible itinerary planned. The pool was closed due to pandemic, but the spa was open. We went on their morning Nature Walk, it was a good experience.

The staff is fabulous; they were fully booked all through Christmas till after the New Year. We had a good time !! Hope you liked the photos.
