In Chikmagalur, we woke up to sounds of birds chirping; in Hampi, we were awakened by the sounds of whistles from trains. Goods train most probably ferrying raw material and finished goods to and fro from the JSW Vijayanagar Steel Plant in the vicinity.

Our hotel, the Hyatt Place was located in a town called Toranagallu, an hour’s drive from Hampi. And in Toranagallu, the hotel was within a residential layout for the JSW Vijayanagar Steel Plant employees called Vidyanagar. The red dust and mud that we saw all along the roads in our road trip stopped short of the gates to Vidyanagar; there was not a speck of red within the residential area🌿 !!

We got upgraded from a large room to a suite😀. The buffet spread was good, the service was superb, we had a memorable stay😘 !! The hotel did not serve alcohol.

It’s the first time we are in an industrial town🏭. At night the lights from the steel plant shine and shimmer and we can see them from afar. They also have a private airport here called the JSW Vijayanagar Airport and an institute for sports named the Inspire Institute for Sports; JSW are the sponsors for Bangalore FC ⚽️.

There are a few places to see inside the residential layout, more on that in the next post !!
