Craving an Eat Out ⁉️🍹

This time the Independence Day, 15 August fell on a Saturday robbing us of a long weekend🙃.  You may ask whether in the present work from home and online classes situation, do holidays really matter? Isn’t it just another day at home ? Yes, they do matter. We need a break from the online classes too😀.

And in compensation, today, Friday is a holiday in Bangalore on account of Gowri Ganesha, a festival to celebrate goddess Gowri or Parvati, the mother of Ganesha. Tomorrow is the Ganesh Chaturthi festival celebrating the arrival of Ganesha to earth from Kailash Parvat with his mother Goddess Parvati. In short, we have a long weekend !!

We want to get out of the house. The kid needs new shoes; Sketchers is having their end of season sale, so we will stop there. But we also want eat out. Where to go? In Bangalore, almost all the restaurants still functioning have the take-away/ home delivery option; so food reaching home is not a problem.  Anything you crave can be home delivered.

Come weekend and all we can think of is a change of surroundings to refresh our minds. Considering the prevailing situation, we are not confident enough to just walk into our favourite standalone restaurants. We pick Starbucks. The place is open for business but relatively empty.

We ordered and were planning to eat there. The tables were kept apart as per the social distancing norms. Soon after us, there was a couple who also decided to have their coffee at the shop. There were few customers who preferred the take-away route.

We have a few favourites at Starbucks – the Murg (chicken) khatti roll, the egg white and chicken croissant.

Their drink vanilla mango poppers is superb🥤. A mouthful of the small gelatinous poppers can make anyone smile😃. Another absolute delight is their Hazelnut Chocolate Cruffin 😋.

After the small shopping and eat out, we are back at the apartment. The outing felt good !! There are Ganesha idols of all sizes for sale with the roadside vendors.  People are busy with buying stuff and getting ready for tomorrow’s celebrations. It’s Friday and as always the Carnival Cakes and Bread people have come🧁. Also a flower seller with flowers and garlands for puja tomorrow has arrived and is now surrounded by residents picking their choice of flowers for tomorrow’s festivities.

Here’s wishing everyone a happy Ganesh Chaturthi 🎊.

Till next post, take care !!
