Adding a new rhythm to my mornings🚶🏻‍♀️

There are no school buses to catch, breakfast to be hurried or lunch boxes to be packed. In fact, mornings have become so leisurely and calm that it is an absolute pleasure to wake up to a new day. I spent most of the early morn sitting by the balcony window with my tea and Nice biscuits, watching the world outside. Occasionally read; it’s bliss.

And then one Sunday morning, I had the sudden urge to jump out of bed and go for a walk. “It’s the end of the month, if you want to start something new, wait for the beginning of the next month.” a voice in my head pleaded🤷‍♀️.

“Says who? If you want to do something. Start now!” a louder voice sounded and the body obeyed🙆‍♀️. I have finally run out of excuses for not exercising. Stepping outside, the morning chill felt so good. Bangalore weather is glorious🌥.

I am wearing the kid’s smart watch, it keeps count of the steps and the calories. I am not ambitious; 5000 steps each day is the goal and that would burn about 400 cal. A small start, but am just trying to be consistent and let’s see how it goes. Monday went well.

Tuesday was easy to follow up. There is a flurry of activity at the front gate in the morning. The milk, newspaper, Big Basket, Licious, Amazon deliveries come and go. Some maids arrive early. There are dog owners taking their pets out for a walk.

It’s Wednesday and it’s colder than usual. “Oh! the bed feels so soft. Take a break today. It’s too cold🤷‍♀️.” I get up and fall back into bed.

“Please don’t stop now, it’s only been 3 days. Get up !!” the other voice screams in my head🙆‍♀️. I get up and and get out. The breeze is cold. But a few steps and the body gets used to it.

Thursday and the sky is covered with grey clouds. “Looks like it’s going to rain; don’t want to get wet”🤷‍♀️. I wait for 5 minutes. “See, no rain. Now go outside.”🙆‍♀️ But later I feel a few pitter-patter on my head and a run back in.

It’s Friday; a holiday for schools, two celebrations today, Eid for Muslims & Varamahalakshmi Vrata for Hindus, a day of puja for pleasing Goddess Lakshmi (Goddess of Wealth). “I can take a break too?”🤷‍♀️ “Why? Please keep going.”🙆‍♀️

So far, so good….🚶🏻‍♀️

Till next post, take care !!
