Republic Day weekend; the kid’s school sent a message asking us to watch the Republic Day parade on the TV to see “the newly inducted stealth attack helicopter Apache and the transport helicopter Chinook” taking part in the fly past for the first time. But we were miles away in Kerala attending a family wedding. A wedding after a long hiatus and it was time to dress up in silk saris and jewellery.
We set off to Kochi on Saturday; the flight was a 6:00 pm and to catch the flight, we set off from home in Bangalore at 1:00 pm. It takes almost 2.5 hours to reach the Bangalore airport, while the flight to Kochi is only for 45 min🤨.

The Kempegowda International Airport at Bangalore has good places to eat and this makes it worthwhile getting to the airport early to grab a leisurely bite before boarding the aircraft😋. Lunch was at the airport at one of the new food joints outside the airport terminal called Windmills Craftworks by Total Environment. The food there is yummy, we had pasta 🍝 – the Penne with chicken and Conchiglie with bacon. The Conchiglie shaped like seashells is the prettiest looking pasta I have seen👇.

The check-in at the airport is easy but the security check is one long slow process. Once through, there are pretty shops to browse around.

After a pleasant flight, we land at Kochi and take a taxi home. Famished again, we set out to eat some of our favourite food – Malabar biryani and Kerala parotta at the restaurant called Curry Leaf at Kadavanthara. The Malabar chicken biryani is made from a short white grain rice and not from the typical long Basmati, it is not too spicy either, super tasty👇.

The Kerala parotta had beef and chicken curry as two side dishes😋👇.

One more thing to do before the wedding tomorrow, give the car a wash😀. By now it was past 10:00 pm and this is when the 24/7 car washes prove extremely useful.

Sunday morning and we were off to the church for the wedding👫. It was a small gathering at the church. The wedding ceremony went beautifully well.

After the ceremony at the church, the lunch reception was at a nearby hall. It was a melee of people, buffet lunch was already underway; while at the sit-sown area people were waiting for the newly-weds to make their entrance onto the stage.

There was live music with violin and keyboard by the duo in the above picture 🎻🎵🎶…
The bride would change from the wedding white sari to her “Manthrakodi” – the colorful sari gifted by the groom’s family.

After lunch, post meeting and greeting family and friends, we head back home in Kochi. It is hot and humid in Kochi, hope to get some rest before we pack up and take the flight back to Bangalore. Dinner again at the Bangalore airport and we reach home.

It was a busy weekend for us. Here’s wishing everyone a good week ahead.
Till next post, take care !!
