What do you do on a rainy day☔️?

“Sunshine is delicious, rain is refreshing, wind braces us up, snow is exhilarating; there is really no such thing as bad weather, only different kinds of good weather.” – John Ruskin

1 Dec 2019

December morning in Bangalore; it’s cold and drizzling outside🌧. And as always my day starts with tea and Nice biscuits. I stopped the practice of adding sugar to my tea; but I compensate by dipping the sugar sprinkled Nice biscuits (has to be from Sunfeast). I tried the warm water lemon concoction, supposedly good for the gut, but it brings me no joy☺️, so I stopped. Sipping steaming milky chai and dipping the sugar coated biscuits (limiting to 3 nos.) while watching quiet world outside is the perfect start to a day.

1st December also marks the start of 25 days of Noyambu or fasting  (not eating nonveg) till Christmas, a practice among the Syrian Christians; but am not keeping the fast this year. My cousin usually calls us home during the last days of November for a meat feast; she wants to clear out her fridge of all pending nonveg before the Noyambu starts and we are more than happy to oblige. But this time, she has a wedding to attend in Kerala and was busy with shopping; we missed the home cooked feast🥘.

1st December is also the day, many in our family put up their Christmas tree🎄 and post pictures in the WhatsApp group; I like joining the bandwagon; but at present we do not have a tree. And so post breakfast, we head to Safina Plaza; another cousin of mine recommended the place for buying Christmas tree. We already have one, but it is still in Kochi; not yet made the shift to Bangalore. There are good looking artificial trees at the shop called Evergreen Christmas Centre in Safina Plaza; but we decide not to buy. Buying is easy; the task of storing and carrying two Christmas trees for the remainder year is not a burden I want (maybe as a result of a little influence of minimalism). I am not buying any new Christmas decorations this year, will make do with last year’s stuff🌟.

1st December and we need to return books at the library, Eloor lending library📚; close to Safina Plaza. Armed with a brand new set of literary feast; we stop at the nearby Chai Point for more tea and snacks; steaming ginger chai☕️ and keema samosas are prefect for the weather. Between the sips and bites, we cover a few pages of the new books; it’s bliss🥰.

1st December; beginning of the best month of the year; wishing everyone a happy week ahead✨.

Till next post, take care !!
