Weekend lunch out, I wanted to visit the Forum Shantiniketan mall. Situated in Whitefield, it’s 45 min away from my home, so might as well call it a one day trip. First time at this mall and at once I make a beeline to the Westside shop. Our usual haunt is the Phoenix Market City mall and Westside is one retailer not set shop at Phoenix. There are many tempting wares, but I just content myself with some window shopping; will be back soon..😚 All other shops have representation at Phoenix; but Now & Zen has shut shop at Phoenix and moved here.

Next we head to the Punjab Grill restaurant at the mall for lunch. We order Makhani Naan (Butter Naan) and Patiala Shahi Kadhai Murgh (Chicken). Normally a naan is cut into two pieces and served; for the two of us, we order 3 naans, one-and-a-half naan per person. But our waiter Nihar warned us that one naan will be enough for the two of us. We were skeptical, he said their one naan has 3 pieces and that would suffice, else we could order more later. And we were glad we took his advice. The naan was huge and cut into 3 pieces, enough to fill the two of us and the chicken curry was lip-smacking. We polished the plates.

Rewinding a bit though, we ordered a starter – Tawa Macchi (Pan Fish); was not what we expected. The kid was aghast “No one goes to a Punjabi restaurant and orders fish, you stick to chicken. Succulent pieces of meat in delicious gravy, that’s what is good!!” He is right, the fish was a bad experiment. The fish was thinly sliced, coated with masala and fried, nothing wrong; but it’s just not the taste we are used to, maybe it’s the oil used for frying the fish…

And then the dessert, Gulab Jamuns, I love them, they are sweet and melt in the mouth.  There is nothing more perfect than this, but the menu described a hint of Nutella with the jamuns and we dug in; the Gulab Jamun had a Nutella filling 😍

Tasty and filling, two words to describe meal. Good ambience, courteous staff and prompt service, nice place. Hope to head back again !!

Till next post, take care !!
