Last question…Why then? Because it is fun, entertaining and it’s a show is free of sex, violence and strong language – the usual warnings accompanying  most shows on air now. Fair enough; the series is an Amazon original and plays on Amazon Prime video.

The Grand Tour – this show about cars is something that I am not naturally inclined to watch. It was the kid’s initiative. He used to watch Top Gear, the new series with Matt LeBlanc   (Joey from Friends). Then once we subscribed to Amazon Prime Video, he started watching The Grand Tour; he was kind enough to bring me upto speed saying the presenters of this show were the earlier hosts at Top Gear.

Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond and James May – their rocking sense of humour combined with the simple language they use to describe the car mechanics, the pranks on each other and their outrageous ventures makes the show a treat to watch. They play the Battleship board game in real life by blowing up cars !! Not to forget the slick editing and the beautiful scenery along which they race around in the magnificent cars.

Severely lacking in any form of automobile intelligence, a car for me is only a comfortable means of transport from point A to point B. A month ago if you asked me about

v4, v8, v12 – isotopes? 😬

drifting – on the seas?😬

transition – lenses?😬

afterburner – after burn what?😬

The series has enlightened me😇 and I cannot stop gaping at the beautiful beautiful countrysides they pass through in the cool cars. I have heard about petrol, diesel, hybrid, electric and supercars…now there are hypercars😅. At a show in Dubai, Hammond was racing a Porsche 918 against a Bugatti Chiron, both hypercars – the Bugatti won.

In England there was race between the Jaguar, Bentley and Land Rover – Jag and the  Land Rover are Indian cars !!! “Speed is smart” says Jeremy Clarkson, “you get to places faster, you get more time to spend with your loved ones.” Can’t believe I am quoting lines from the series😬. I have to add “Speed thrills, but kills.”

We completed Season 1 and continuing…it’s AWESOME !!🚙💨
