On the road in the Monsoon πŸŒ§πŸš•

Monsoon is a perspective…it is a bane for those whose houses have been flooded and a boon for those who find time to enjoy it with a steaming cup of tea on the verandah.” the RJ on the radio was chirpy and we were waiting for the Malayalam songs to follow.

7:30 am, cloudy morning with a lazy drizzle; we were in a cab on road from Kochi to Kottayam. It was a holiday on account of Eid celebrations; traffic was meagre, shutters were still down on the roadside shops. The roads in the city were bad, soon we were speeding along the highway; the wet, mossy, muddy, green scenery was a refreshing change.

The journey was pleasant, uneventful except for a few pockets of flooded roads. Through the waters we proceeded cautiously in first gear.

Our home sits on the banks of the Meenachil river in Kottayam. The river burst its banks and spilled onto the road in some low lying areas. Holiday and people were enjoying the walk on the flooded roads in the knee deep waters.

The RJ on the radio also asked about today’s Google doodle; it is a proud day for Indians.

12 August 2019 marked Prof Vikram Sarabhai’s 100th birthday; he is the Father of India’s Space Programme.

Till next post, take care !!
