On Sunday, 19 Aug 2018, a powerful earthquake of magnitude 8.2 occurred in the Pacific Ocean, close to the islands of Tonga and Fiji, the US Geological Survey reported. As per the reports ” But the undersea quake was too deep to trigger a tsunami, according to the US Pacific Tsunami Warning Center, which added that small tsunami waves have been observed but no damage reported. There were no reports of casualties. “I would not expect any damage. People will feel it but it’s so deep that I would not expect any damage,” USGS geophysicist Jana Pursley told Reuters.”
My trip was made just the last month in July 2018, so request new travellers to exercise caution. Having said that, let’s continue………

We are leaving the wet wet Hong Kong for the sunny beaches of Fiji.

Final stop, the Hong Kong Intl Airport and we grab some lunch before boarding the airplane. We ate at a restaurant called Beef & Liberty and the food was very good !! We tried the Lobster Sandwich, Hamburger; for drinks, we tried the Old Fashioned and Plum Lazy; desserts were Lemon Treacle Tart and Eton Mess. The Fiji Airways flight is at 4:55 pm and it’s a 9 hour journey.

Finally, on board the aircraft and we are ready for take-off. In the aircraft, glimpses from Fiji flash on the video screens and am already smiling and dreaming 🙂
By tomorrow morning we will be at the Nadi International Airport, Fiji.
